Interrupt Festival is Melbourne's underground gathering for live electronic music and chiptune culture. The festival centres on portable hardware: trackers, synthesisers, and custom rigs built for performance.
Interrupt Festival brings together international and local artists known for video game soundtracks and high-tempo live sets, alongside workshops, hardware demos, and open gear nights.
Interrupt Festival 2027 runs across three days at Kindred Bandroom in Footscray. Doors open each night from dusk. The full programme is announced in stages leading up to January.
Interrupt Festival 2027 features the same internationally recognised acts that headlined the 2026 edition, returning to Footscray for a full three-night programme.
Trash80 produces dense, melodic electronic music built on Game Boy hardware and tracker software. Known for sweeping cinematic structures and precise live performance, Trash80 has scored video games and headlined chiptune events worldwide.
Chipzel creates fast-paced chiptune that crosses into electronic and rave territory. Chipzel composed the soundtrack to the award-winning game Super Hexagon and delivers high-energy live sets built on classic handheld hardware.
Chibi-Tech blends J-pop energy with hardcore chiptune, using the Famicom and other vintage hardware to build tracks that are technically demanding and relentlessly kinetic. Chibi-Tech is one of the most distinctive voices in the global tracker music scene.
Interrupt Festival 2027 is based at Kindred Bandroom in Footscray. Past editions also spanned Brunswick and Yarraville. The 2027 venue programme will be confirmed by October 2026.

Interrupt Festival has previously activated venues across Yarraville, Brunswick, and the inner west. Additional venue partnerships for 2027 will be announced alongside the full programme in late 2026.
